Bollywood stars celebrated the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi birthday of Lord Ganesh with vigour. Stars have kicked off the 10 day event those who could have taken a break from their busy schedule spending time with their family members.Stars have been posting photos of the days events to their Instagram and Twitter accounts.Meanwhile most celebs have appealed their fans to go for an ecofriendly Ganesh idols stressing the importance of not contaminating the water bodies. The rituals of the 10 day festival include bringing home the idol offering pujas which is followed by its immersion in water a.k.a visarjan. Immersion can be done in sea river or lake and if there arent any water bodies around in a bucket as well the least polluting way.In Mumbai where the event is celebrated with great fervour pollution is a big concern. Hence stars have decided to utilise their fame to spread awareness.Actress entrepreneur Shilpa Shetty has installed her first ever eco friendly Ganesh this year setting an example for herfans.Arjun Kapoor as well echoed the same thought. He wrote on Twitter Ganesh chaturti ke shubh avsar pe a nudge in the right direction lets have an Eco friendly celebration this year.Actor Akshay Kumar too wished his fans reminding them gently about the need to choose eco friendly idols.
